Running the P11D Organiser Client/Server
With the increase of customers working over VPNs, and the ever more stringent security that is put in place with regards to executables and connectivity, we have seen occasional problems with the 'old' way of working that used to be employed by the P11D Organiser - this is where the application is run from a server via a shortcut.
Although this was convenient and could make setup more simple, we would now always recommend that a system is converted over to a 'client/server' set up. When operating as a client, the P11D Organiser application is located on the user's machine, and access the data only - this not only makes things faster, but will also ensure the application has access to all the rights necessary to perform it's task.
We have built the ability to convert a system over to a client/server based solution right into the software, so any customer can make this change.
Creating a Client
To move a users to the preferred ‘client’ way of working
- Start the P11D Organiser from the shortcut on the desktop
- Press F6 once on the login screen, or;
- Log into the software and select ‘Setup P11D Client’ from the Admin menu
This process will create a folder on the C: drive of the PC named P11D Client, and will create a sub-folder below that with a name based on the serial number.
You will then find an additional shortcut on the desktop named P11D Organiser Client.
Login Button
The colour of the login button on the main screen indicates whether you are running the Client software (green) or a shortcut to the main application (blue).
